President Bruno Dantas attends the 100th Anniversary of the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Minister Bruno Dantas, participated in the centenary ceremony celebrating the creation of the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held in the capital city of Riyadh, on December 6th.
Alongside the President of the General Court of Audit, Dr. Hussam Alangari, and the Director-General of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), Einar Gørrissen, Dantas delivered a speech on behalf of INTOSAI. Delegates from the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), a regional group led by the Saudi General Court of Audit, attended the ceremony.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to the Saudi General Court of Audit for its invaluable contributions to the Kingdom's economic and administrative well-being. Your work with audits, evaluation of public spending, and promotion of transparency has cultivated a notable culture of fiscal responsibility. I would also like to emphasize SAI Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to INTOSAI. The long-standing presidency of the Policy, Finance, and Administration Committee highlights the role of Saudi Arabia in strengthening the global community of supreme audit institutions.," said the Minister.
Dantas highlighted that the Saudi Court established the Saudi Fund for SAI Improved Performance (FSIP) during the leadership of the Policy, Finance, and Administration Committee (PFAC). The fund will finance the first round of projects of the INTOSAI Centre for Advanced Studies (CASt).
The CASt initiative will be led by the Supervisory Committee on Emerging Issues (SCEI) and will foster collaboration between supreme audit institutions (SAIs) and academia. The initiative will offer fellowship research opportunities and visiting programs to advance knowledge and share best practices in auditing. The study centre was presented during the 77th Meeting of the INTOSAI Governing Board.
“We are eager to collaborate with the Saudi General Court of Audit on our international initiatives to further benefit the international audit community and citizens. Together, we can contribute to the advancement of transparency, accountability, and excellence in audit practices on a global scale,” Dantas stated.
The General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds prominent positions on international boards, including Second Vice-President of the INTOSAI Governing Board, member of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) Board, and President of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI). Additionally, it permanently represents the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the G20 Supreme Audit Institutions Engagement Group (SAI20).
