Presents the most important results of various works developed by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) in alliance with the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) in the environmental area. All these works have had the support of the German Cooperation Agency for Sustainable Development (through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ - GmbH), within the scope of the regional Project Strengthening External Control in the Environmental Area.
Environmental and climate protection policies require complex environmental governance structures. State action in the environmental area is implemented by public agencies and private sector actors. Conflicting objectives between economic growth, environmental protection and social development hinder effective and efficient implementation of environmental policy measures and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals established in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, among other international commitments.
