ClimateScanner Executive Group Conducts Virtual Meetings to Plan Next Activities
On August 22, the ClimateScanner Executive Group conducted two virtual meetings to plan the next steps of the project and share recent updates. The meetings were held in two different moments to accommodate participants from various time zones.
The group now comprises 19 countries, following the recent inclusion of Egypt’s Supreme Audit Institution (SAI), the current First Vice-chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Inst itutions (INTOSAI). The other members are Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, United States, Slovakia, Philippines, Finland, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Morocco, New Zealand, Kenya, United Kingdom, Thailand, and the European Court of Auditors.
At the beginning of the virtual meetings, an overview was provided of the six regional workshops held between April and August 2024, which trained 224 auditors from 124 different SAIs.
To accommodate the countries that could not participate in the previous workshops, a final workshop, called the "Last Call," will be held in Rio de Janeiro from September 30 to October 4. So far, 16 SAIs are registered for the event.
The online meetings also presented a chart proposal of the national results from ClimateScanner assessments (currently referred to as the "sun chart"), along with the project’s online community, with information and best practices shared by countries during the assessments.
Additionally, the agenda for the in-person meeting of the Executive Group, scheduled to take place from October 15 to 18 in Brasilia at the Instituto Serzedello Corrêa for Capacity Building, was discussed.
It was also reinforced that the Executive Group members should complete their national assessments by early October so that the initial national results can be presented at COP29 in Azerbaijan.
