TCU’s Capacity Building Institute launches “Women In Leadership” exchange program
The first stage of the Exchange Program in Government Audit and Management of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (ProInter-TCU), Women in Leadership edition, began on November 13th. Fifteen female auditors holding leadership positions in the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (OISC-CPLP) are participating in the program. The goal is to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge in human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and gender-responsive budgeting.
In this first week, held in a virtual format, participants have initial interactions with each other and the program's coordinating team, and become familiar with the detailed schedule of the exchange program. They also participated in the sessions “TCU Overview”, presented by the Head of TCU’s Office of Protocol and Institutional Events, Shirley Cavalcante, and “Equanomics: fiscal policies and institutions work for gender equality”, conducted by the Coordinator of the Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ana Lugarte.
At the opening session, the Deputy Secretary General of Administration, Fabiana Ruas, welcomed the participants. "The fight against gender inequality has various fronts, and individuals can choose which one to focus on: combating violence against women, encouraging women in science, incorporating a gender perspective to design a budget more suitable for public policies that affect women, among many others. I have chosen to dedicate myself to the issue of women in leadership and fortunately the TCU has been investing in this area", she emphasized.
Between November 27 and December 1, the program will continue with in-person activities at the headquarters of the capacity building center, Instituto Serzedello Corrêa (ISC), in Brasilia.
