Minister Augusto Nardes Represents the TCU at International Audit Meeting

On March 11 and 12, the city of San José, Costa Rica, hosted the High-Level Dialogue on Professionalization and Capacity Building for Authorities of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS). Minister Augusto Nardes, represented the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and Brazil at the meeting. Nardes delivered a keynote speech during the event’s opening session.
The goal of the event was to bring leaders of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and key stakeholders together for an exchange of perspectives and experiences on the professionalization of audit practices. The initiative seeks to enhance the credibility and impact of these institutions in fostering transparency and efficiency in public administration.
The meeting addressed the development of expert auditors, enhancing sustainable audit practices, and improving audit quality management systems. Participants also discussed methods for measuring the impact of audits to demonstrate their significance in the public sector.
SAIs play a crucial role in auditing and overseeing the use of public resources, ensuring transparency and government compliance. As part of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), and within Latin America under OLACEFS, they foster a collaborative environment for sharing best practices.
Minister Augusto Nardes' participation in the event highlights Brazil’s importance in the international public governance scenario and reinforces the country’s dedication to advancing the professionalization and efficacy of public sector audits. By sharing experiences and advancing capacity-building efforts, Brazil positions itself as a leader in the pursuit of greater transparency and efficiency in public service.
