On July 18, the President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), Minister Vital do Rêgo, met with the technical team of the United Nations (UN) Board of Auditors in New York. The meetings were to prepare for the 79th Regular Session of the UN Board of Auditors, which took place on July 22 and 23, where the results of the 2024 audits were reported.

During the meetings, participants discussed the main findings and recommendations from the audits conducted by the TCU. In total, Brazil conducted 17 audits across eight UN agencies, which have a combined annual budget of USD 15 billion.

The meetings with the TCU team in New York also covered a side event from the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), which took place on July 21. This event, part of the UN's High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), was titled "Growing competencies and capacities of SAIs for delivering audit value for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." It focused specifically on SDG 5 – "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls" – and SDG 17 – "Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development."

The meetings were attended by the Secretary-General of the TCU Presidency, Cláudia Jordão; the Deputy Secretary-General for Strategic Support in Auditing International Organizations, Maurício Wanderley; the Deputy Secretary for the Auditing of United Nations Operations, Maria Camila Dourado; the Head of the Department of International Relations, Hugo Chudysson; and Felipe Sequeiros, a diplomat seconded from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Court.
