TCU Leads Energy Transition Audits in Latin America and the Caribbean
By Secom / Serint
Representatives from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across Latin America and the Caribbean have started a series of four meetings, which began on June 26, to discuss the development of a regional audit guide on energy transition. The document under discussion is an enhanced version of the Energy Transition Audit Guide developed by the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), already available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
The meetings will continue through August and are part of the ongoing work of the thematic Task Forces created by the Infrastructure and Energy Transitions Commission (COINFRA) of the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS).
The objective of the regional guide is to provide practical guidance to help SAIs conduct more structured audits of public policies related to energy transition. Experts and representatives from international organizations are also taking part in the discussions.
About COINFRA and the Task Forces
The Infrastructure and Energy Transitions Commission (COINFRA), chaired by the TCU, brings together 12 SAIs with the goal of systematizing adaptable audit methodologies tailored to the diverse realities of the OLACEFS region.
Each Task Force is coordinated by a lead SAI. Participating countries include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela, as well as the Province of Buenos Aires.
