TCU Welcomes Judge Counselor of Portugal's Supreme Administrative Court

On September 15, the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) welcomed Catarina Almeida e Sousa, Judge Counselor of Portugal¿s Supreme Administrative Court. The visit was part of the international judicial exchange program promoted by the International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ), in partnership with the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The program aims to foster the sharing of experiences and best practices among judges from different countries, strengthening international cooperation in the fields of law and public administration.

The judge¿s agenda included participation in the Visit the TCU program, presented by staff member Millena Lima. The program gives visitors the opportunity to tour the Court¿s main facilities and to attend meetings with representatives of the Court¿s technical units, where topics related to the TCU¿s role and contributions to public governance are discussed.

Luís Gustavo Santos, advisor at the Department of International Relations (Serint), provided the guest with an overview of the TCU¿s history and mandate, highlighting its relevance in both national and international contexts. Next, Legal Advisor Cristiano Brilhante (Conjur), Head of the Department of Government Audit for Jurisdictional Functions (Sejus) Dione Mary, and Director of Post-Ruling Effects Management Marcos David shared their practices and experiences in the legal field. Their presentations aimed to provide the judge with a detailed understanding of the TCU¿s legal and administrative operations.

Judge Catarina Almeida e Sousa¿s visit reaffirms the TCU¿s commitment to international cooperation and the exchange of best practices. Sharing experiences among institutions from different countries is essential for strengthening administrative jurisdictions and promoting more efficient and transparent public management.
