The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and the Serzedello Corrêa Institute for Capacity Building (ISC) will host a series of preparatory events for the SAI20 Annual Summit, which will be held in Belém, Pará, in June. The meeting will feature discussions on topics including the fight against hunger and poverty, climate finance, and energy transition. These topics have been selected to align with the G20's agenda and with the Brazilian government during its presidency in 2024.

During the event, participating SAIs will engage in debates across various panels and thematic sessions to develop the initial version of the Communiqué. This joint declaration will contain concrete recommendations to G20 national governments, acknowledging the strategic importance of its contributions to policies related to climate finance, as well as the fight against hunger and poverty.

The Senior Officials Meeting marks the inaugural in-person event of SAI20's current edition, following a sequence of four virtual technical sessions held between February and March, with the involvement of 18 SAIs. The objective of the sessions was to identify and prioritize key topics relevant to the work of SAIs within the framework of the two thematic axes selected for SAI20 this year.

The event in Brasília will be an opportunity for the SAIs to consolidate the main policy recommendations that will comprise the Communiqué. The Communiqué will ensure that the position of the engagement group strengthens the fundamental role of SAIs in improving the policies, programs, and projects implemented by the G20 countries to combat climate change, hunger and poverty.

The Senior Officials Meeting will be attended by high-level technical representatives from SAI20, and audit institutions invited by the TCU. Court authorities will also be present. To broaden the forum's vision and encourage debate, technical experts and representatives from international organizations such as the World Bank, the IDB, GIZ, and UN agencies have also been invited.
