At 73 years of age, more than 50 years committed to the Brazilian public administration, among which 15 were dedicated as minister of the TCU, Carreiro was celebrated by his peers in the Full Court Session that took place in the final week of January 2022. During the ceremony, he was praised for his successful career and high level of engagement and professional competence. 

As minister, he was always an active figure, either by participating as rapporteur or by supporting proposals or suggestions in the main deliberations of the Court. 

As president of the TCU, during the years of 2017-2018, his motto was “doing more with less”, constantly showing his concern with efficiency when dealing with public resources.  

His place will be occupied by Senator Antonio Anastasia, nominated by the Senate.
