The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) will conduct parallel activities at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) on July 15, at 2:00PM (UCT-3). The event will be held at the Brazilian Consulate in New York, United States, with live streaming available via Zoom.

Since 2017, INTOSAI has organized activities at the HLPF to promote discussions and actions supporting the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, the focus is on SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

The event will feature participation from various Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), civil society organizations, national governments, parliamentarians, and UN agencies. The primary objective is to demonstrate how SAIs contribute to the creation of effective, accountable, and inclusive public institutions, which are essential for achieving the SDGs.

The contributions of SAIs will be highlighted through audits focused on implementing climate actions, food security, and poverty eradication. Additionally, the updated version of the INTOSAI Development Initiative’s (IDI) SDG Audit Model (ISAM) will be launched, aimed at supporting SAIs in conducting high-quality and impactful audits on SDG implementation.

The opening ceremony will feature the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the UN, Ambassador Sérgio França Danese, TCU Minister Walton Alencar Rodrigues, and INTOSAI Secretary-General Ronald Roedl.

The participation of SAIs in the HLPF is an opportunity to reinforce the importance of efficient, accountable, and inclusive public institutions in promoting global sustainable development.
