The International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) has issued a public call for researchers’ proposals in governing audit and information based on the work of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

The initiative aims to select up to six high-impact and relevant research projects to receive funding for up to three months. The call is intended for doctoral researchers from outside SAIs who are affiliated with universities anywhere in the world. SAI staff with expertise in the themes outlined in the call can apply as supervisors.

The research must focus on issues of global relevance and cross-cutting themes related to the work carried out by SAIs. The idea is to explore and deepen knowledge in key areas of external control and public auditing. The themes of the current call are:

  • Impacts of Artificial Intelligence for SAIs (2 projects)

  • Climate Finance Auditing (2 projects)

  • Combating Hunger and Poverty (2 projects)

The projects must be written in English. Among the selection criteria, INTOSAI emphasizes their usefulness and potential for practical application. This means they must contribute to theoretical progress and have concrete practical applicability.

The rules, criteria, and deadlines for the selection process are available on the SCEI website.

Proposals will be accepted until June 9, 2024.

ABOUT THE SELECTION PROCESS

This initiative is spearheaded by CASt (the INTOSAI Centre for Advanced Studies). The Centre is based on the think tank model and is led by the INTOSAI Supervisory Committee on Emerging Issues (SCEI). It is a scientific council dedicated to fostering applied research on priority topics and generating technical and scientific knowledge to bolster public auditing and management activities within the realm of INTOSAI. The Centre's mission includes the consolidation and dissemination of knowledge and best practices among SAIs, alongside the facilitation of collaborative research and partnerships with international organizations and research networks.
