Minister Augusto Nardes of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) represented the country during the XXXVII Ordinary Assembly of the Supreme Audit Institutions of South American Countries (EFSUR), held from September 21 to 25 in Barranquilla, Colombia. The event brought together key external control leaders from South America and political authorities, including Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, and the Comptroller General, Carlos Hernán Rodríguez Becerra.

During his speech on the final day of the event, Nardes discussed TCU’s role in the presidency of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). He provided a brief history of audits in the fields of environment and infrastructure, emphasizing that "the implementation of good governance is crucial for improving the work of Supreme Audit Institutions."

Nardes also highlighted the importance of initiatives such as ClimateScanner, which aims to tackle the challenges of climate change. "Together, we can build a more sustainable and just future for all of South America," he stated, stressing the need for collaboration among countries in the region.

At the conclusion of the assembly, the minister presented his book “Da Governança à Esperança” (From Governance to Hope) to Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, and the Comptroller General, Carlos Hernán Rodríguez Becerra. This gesture symbolized the dedication towards good governance and international cooperation to strengthen public management and promote transparency.
