Moroccan Court of Accounts Hosts Fourth Regional ClimateScanner Training

Twenty-three Supreme Audit Institutions from ARABOSAI and CREFIAF participated in a technical workshop. The event also brought together experts from the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

From July 8 to 12, the Moroccan Court of Accounts hosted the fourth regional ClimateScanner workshop.The event gathered representatives from the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) and the Regional Training Council of Supreme Audit Institutions of Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa (CREFIAF).

The training saw the participation of 41 auditors from 23 SAIs: Bahrain, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Iraq, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritania, Oman, Senegal, Somalia, Chad, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, and the European Court of Auditors (ECA).

The workshop was designed to promote extensive participation and the practical application of its content. The sessions focused on three primary areas: climate finance, climate governance, and public policies related to climate change.

Participants engaged in interactive activities, applying the tools and techniques they had learned to real data from their respective countries or to information from hypothetical scenarios. This was the first workshop of the initiative to be conducted in three languages: English, French, and Arabic.

Laila Moudden, Governance Specialist from the World Bank, Mohammed Alaoui, Finance Specialist from African Climate Resolutions, and Omar Zemrag from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), also participated in the event, providing participants with technical and in-depth information on the respective topics.

Following the technical meeting, a total of 84 countries have now been trained in the methodology and platform of the ClimateScanner project. This includes 17 countries from the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS), 25 from the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), 20 from the Pacific and Caribbean regions (members of PASAI and CAROSAI), and 22 from Arab and Francophone African countries (linked to ARABOSAI and CREFIAF).

The next ClimateScanner technical training is scheduled to take place from July 22 to 26 at the International Centre for Environmental Audit and Sustainable Development (iCED) in Jaipur, India, for the countries of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).
