TCU hosts the first in-person JURISAI Governing Board meeting
Meeting in Brasilia brings together representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions with jurisdictional functions from various countries to strengthen international cooperation

The first in-person meeting of the Governing Board of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions (JURISAI) is taking place until September 12 in Brasília. The gathering brings together representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Brazil, France, Portugal, Morocco, and Senegal, as well as delegations from Angola, Djibouti, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, thereby strengthening international cooperation regarding the jurisdictional role of audit institutions.
At the opening of the event, Minister Bruno Dantas, representing the President of the Brazilian Federal Court Of Accounts (TCU) and the President of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Minister Vital do Rêgo, highlighted the significance of the meeting for the approval of various JURISAI documents and the preparation for participation in the INTOSAI Congress (INCOSAI XXV), which will be held in November in Egypt.
¿Brazil is proud to have been one of the architects behind the creation of JURISAI. The initiative, born out of dialogue and cooperation, has already been recognized by the Governing Board of INTOSAI and is moving toward its consolidation at the General Assembly,¿ he stated. Dantas further emphasized, ¿the path we have taken proves that cooperation is not merely desirable. It is indispensable. By working together, we ensure that the jurisdictional function is carried out with greater consistency, transparency, and legitimacy.¿

Strengthened oversight
The Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutor¿s Office at TCU, Cristina Machado, underscored the unique role of jurisdictional institutions in the current scenario of public governance and highlighted the JURISAI¿s importance Public Prosecution Committee, created with Bruno Dantas's support, during his presidency of INTOSAI and the establishment of JURISAI.
¿Cooperation between our institutions strengthens control systems and makes a significant contribution to consolidating principles such as due process, impartiality, and effectiveness in public accountability,¿ he stated.
Serge Barichard, JURISAI President and Senior Counsellor and representative of the French Court of Accounts, led the proceedings in the morning, guiding the approval of permanent committees¿ action plans, driving progress forward in the organization¿s recognition within INTOSAI, and setting JURISAI¿s participation in the Cairo Congress.
Among the key resolutions were the action plan for recognizing JURISAI as an affiliated entity within INTOSAI; the organization of a JURISAI side event at INCOSAI XXV; the establishment of a JURISAI stand at the Egypt Congress; and the creation of the International Center for Studies on the Jurisdictional Function (ICEJ), a proposal submitted by the Brazilian Federal Court Of Accounts (TCU).
