Dig Inclusion Seminar

The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) will hold an international seminar on digital inclusion on September 23 and 24, under the theme "Meaningful Connectivity and Social Transformation." The event will take place at the auditorium of the Serzedello Corrêa Institute (ISC) in Brasilia. It has been organized to expand the reach of the findings from the Court's recent audit on the topic. Registration for participation is open and can be done for either the in-person or online format. The seminar will be streamed on the TCU's YouTube channel.

The seminar aims to foster discussions that contribute to promoting truly universal and meaningful connectivity in Brazil, going beyond mere access to generate a positive impact on people's lives. To this end, the TCU has invited experts in artificial intelligence, members of the federal government and legislature, academics, and representatives from big tech companies.

Inviting participants from various sectors aims to create an environment conducive to broad dialogue and the exchange of ideas from different perspectives. The goal is to develop innovative proposals that turn inequalities into opportunities and ensure that public policies promoting digital inclusion do not leave anyone behind, regardless of social class, age, gender, or educational level.

The meeting will feature seven panels and four lectures, including one presented by Minister Aroldo Cedraz. He is the rapporteur of the case recently reviewed by the TCU plenary (TC 039.324/2023-0), which concerned the evaluation of digital inclusion policies in Brazil. Among other measures, it set a deadline for creating the National Digital Inclusion Plan (Plano Nacional de Inclusão Digital/PNID).

Each panel will include up to five expert participants. Topics covered in the discussions will include artificial intelligence, governance and strategies for digital inclusion, and social transformation enabled by digital literacy, as well as federal government programs.
