The President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), Minister Vital do Rêgo, participated in a series of bilateral meetings in France.

Upon arrival, the President was received by Sarquis José Buainain Sarquis, Representative of the Brazilian Delegation to International Economic Organizations in Paris, and Ricardo Neiva Tavares, Brazil's Ambassador to France. The meeting addressed, among other topics, the collaboration history between the TCU and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which dates back to 2011, as well as Brazil's accession process to the OECD.

On January 29, the Minister attended a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, OECD Director of Public Governance Elsa Pilichowski, and Deputy Director János Bertók. During the meeting, Cormann highlighted the OECD's main initiatives and the importance of Brazil's accession to the organization to further strengthen the country's participation in the OECD's 38 committees.

Vital do Rêgo emphasized the partnership between the TCU and the OECD and expressed interest in joining the interministerial group overseeing Brazil's accession process to the OECD. The President presented three projects led by the TCU: the ClimateScanner, the Energy Transition Audit Guide, and the global audit on hunger and poverty.

The OECD is a key partner in encouraging countries to adopt the ClimateScanner initiative and reinforcing the need for countries that have not yet done so to implement the tool. The organization can also support the TCU in disseminating the Energy Transition Audit Guide and developing the global audit on hunger and poverty.

In the second meeting, Elsa Pilichowski and János Bertók presented the initiative "OECD Global Forum on Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy" launched in October 2024. This initiative provides evidence-based guidance and international best practices to help countries strengthen democratic values and institutions. Additionally, The TCU and the OECD further developed their cooperative relationship.

The President attended the opening session of the French Court of Accounts on January 30, alongside Prime Minister François Bayrou and other dignitaries. Following the session, he met with Pierre Moscovici, President of the French Court of Accounts.

During the meeting, the Presidents discussed initiatives of mutual interest to both Supreme Audit Institutions, including citizen participation, the defence of democracy, and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions (JuriSAI). JuriSAI is chaired by the French Court of Accounts, with the TCU serving as Second Vice-President and Chair of the Finance, Administration, and Communication Committee (FACC). On this occasion, a new Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the TCU and the French Court of Accounts.
