TCU Officials Participate in SAI Young Leaders 2024/2025, in Rwanda
Guilherme Souto, from the Department of External Control for Energy and Communications (SecexEnergia), and José Valente, from the Audit Department for Transfers of Federal Resources (AudTransferências), attended the first SAI Young Leaders (SYL) program 2024/2025 workshop. The event was held from September 30 to October 3, in Kigali, Rwanda, and brought together 22 participants worldwide.
The SAI Young Leaders program capacitates young leaders from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) to drive positive changes within their organizations. The workshop was promoted by the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI-INTOSAI). The idea is to create an environment for exchanging experiences and developing essential leadership skills.
The event’s activities included building a community of leaders and discussions on emotional intelligence and change strategies. Personal and organizational values, change management with the ADKAR and Kotter models, negotiation and influence skills, among other topics, were also discussed.
Projects
Among the presentations, Guilherme Souto highlighted the plan "A Strategic Foresight Blueprint for the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU)," which proposes a proactive approach to anticipating challenges and opportunities in the Court's future. “The Tribunal’s participation in the SYL workshop reflects a commitment to the continuous development of its staff and the pursuit of alignment with international best practices,” emphasized the official.
On the other hand, the project "Society Enhancing the Impacts of the Brazilian SAI," presented by José Arimathea, aims to increase TCU's impact on Brazilian society by strengthening interaction with citizens and promoting transparency in control actions.
As the Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), TCU has been working to enhance the global engagement of SAIs around the world. The participation of Brazilian officials in the program reflects the Court of Accounts' commitment to promoting staff development and aligning with international best practices.
