On February 10, Minister Vital do Rêgo, President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) and Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), met with INTOSAI Secretary General, Margit Kraker, in Vienna, Austria.
The meeting focused on strategic priorities for INTOSAI in 2025, including the Governing Board meeting and the International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI). Both events are scheduled to take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from October 27 to 31, 2025. On this occasion, the TCU will hand over the INTOSAI presidency to SAI Egypt.
Beyond the 2025 agenda, gender equality within Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) was also a key topic. Minister Vital highlighted the underrepresentation of women in SAI leadership, noting that they currently hold only 20% of leadership positions worldwide. He also acknowledged the significance of INTOSAI’s Secretary General being the first woman to hold that position while also presiding over Austria's Supreme Audit Institution.
“At the TCU, 25% of our workforce is composed of women, but we have made significant progress in leadership positions: 37% of senior management roles are held by women. This reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and equal opportunities,” Minister Vital stated
Minister Vital also discussed the institutionalization of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions (JuriSAI), the results of ClimateScanner, and TCU’s commitment to citizen participation.
The Minister extended an invitation to INTOSAI's Secretary General to attend the General Assembly of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) in Fortaleza from November 25th to 28th, and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém from November 10th to 21st.
