After taking part in the opening of the second edition of “Public Dialogue - Bringing Ideas and Solutions Together”, held in Belém (PA) on May 15, the President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), Minister Vital do Rêgo, joined Governor Helder Barbalho for a visit to the City Park construction site. The venue will host the 30th edition of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30). The president of the Pará State Court of Accounts (TCE-PA), Fernando Ribeiro, was also present.
Vital do Rêgo planted a tree in the park and was updated on the progress of the project. “We planted a cashew tree, a species from my region, the Northeast. We can see that the City Park project is well underway and progressing on schedule. The atmosphere of COP is already palpable. The world will be watching Brazil, looking to the Amazon and to Pará, and we will be able to show our commitment to the environment and energy transitions,” he stated.
TCU’s Secretary General of the Presidency, Cláudia Jordão, and Deputy Minister, Marcos Bemquerer, also took part in the visit.
COP30 Structure
The City Park covers approximately 500,000 square meters and will be the main venue for COP30, to be held in the capital of Pará from November 10 to 21, 2025. The venue will host both the official sessions and activities open to the public. The project includes areas for recreation, sports, culture, and environmental education.
