The Embassy has been located at the Quinta de Mil Flores estate since 1987, during the presidency of José Sarney. The 17th-century building recently underwent a full renovation led by Ambassador Raimundo Carreiro. The project, which took over a year, preserved the property's historic character and architectural presence while improving safety and supporting the continuity of diplomatic activities.

The Embassy reopened in January 2025. Its neoclassical style has been carefully maintained to preserve the building's historical identity. The residence is also home to a rich artistic and cultural collection: a library with around five thousand volumes about Brazil, stone sculptures throughout the property, tile panels illustrating a variety of themes, including sacred scenes from the Franciscan tradition, and works by renowned artists, such as a portrait of Pero Vaz de Caminha by Di Cavalcanti.

Beyond its architectural significance, the Embassy plays an important role in strengthening political and diplomatic ties between Brazil and Portugal, and stands as a symbol of tradition, respect, and cooperation between the two countries.
