Helton Garcia, an auditor with the Office of Information Security and Personal Data Protection (Assip), has been selected to serve on the committee overseeing the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification offered by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), one of the world's leading organizations in the fields of governance, auditing, risk management, and information security.
The committee is composed of ten experts from different countries, including the United States, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Garcia was the only Brazilian appointed to this group. The meeting was held at ISACA's global headquarters in Schaumburg, United States. Service is voluntary and unpaid, and all expenses were covered by the association at no cost to the TCU.
His participation reinforces the Court's presence in international initiatives aimed at advancing best practices in information technology and information security. ISACA certifications are widely recognized and considered benchmarks for public and private organizations worldwide.
With more than six years of experience collaborating with ISACA, Garcia has contributed to projects involving the CISM, CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and AAISM (Advanced in AI Security Management) certifications.
He has worked in the field of information security for 25 years and holds more than 25 professional certifications, in addition to academic qualifications from institutions in Brazil and abroad. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Cybersecurity at the University of Brasília (UnB).
