TCU Takes Part in Coordinated OLACEFS Audit on Gender Equality
By Secom / Serint

The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) is participating in a new coordinated audit led by the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS), focused on monitoring Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which addresses gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
In May, representatives from 20 supreme audit institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean took part in a virtual workshop to consolidate the planning matrix for the audit. On behalf of the TCU, auditors from the Audit Department for Education, Culture, Sports and Human Rights (AudEducação) Paulo Gomes Gonçalves and Larissa Nunes Mota participated in the meeting. The audit proposal now moves forward for approval by the rapporteur minister.
AudEducação's participation in the audit is part of the TCU's ongoing work in monitoring public policies related to gender equity. In recent years, the unit has been involved in initiatives such as a survey on SDG 5.5 and a publication on public policies for women, both carried out in partnership with OLACEFS, as well as a 2023 webinar on gender equity and women's rights.
In 2025, in partnership with UN Women and UNDP, the TCU held the Beijing+30: Review of Brazilian Public Policies for Gender Equity and Women's Rights webinar. The event contributed to discussions at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women and reinforced the role of supreme audit institutions (SAIs) in promoting gender equity and monitoring commitments under the Beijing Platform for Action.
