International Meeting on Financial Stability

The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) participated in the 13th Annual Meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Financial and Economic Stability (WGFES) held on May 6 and 7 in Washington, D.C., United States.

Under the theme Beyond Banks: Auditing Non-Traditional Financial Infrastructures, the meeting brought together Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from several countries to discuss risks related to non-bank financial institutions, crypto assets and innovations in the financial system.

The Brazilian delegation was led by Minister Jhonatan de Jesus and included advisor Uriel de Almeida Papa, the head of the Department of International Relations, Hugo Chudyson, and auditor Luiz Felipe Bringel (AudBancos/SecexContas).

During the event, the TCU team presented a study on the institutional capacity of supervisors within Brazil's National Financial System to address emerging risks. The presentation contributed to the international exchange of experiences and to the improvement of audit techniques related to financial stability.

Participants also discussed and approved the WGFES guidelines and work plan for the 2027 2029 cycle, defining priority themes and areas of action.

The Audit Department for Public Banks and Financial Regulations (AudBancos) has been an active member of the working group for several years and takes part on an ongoing basis in international technical discussions on the topic. Participation in this event once again reinforces TCU's role within the WGFES and contributes to strengthening the Court's financial-sector audits.
