Hailing from a family of civil servants and with extensive experience in Public Administration, where he has worked throughout his entire career, Minister Antonio Augusto Anastasia holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Administrative Law from the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he also served as a professor for many years. He was a senator for the state of Minas Gerais (2015-2022) and vice-president of the Federal Senate (2019-2020), authoring and reporting on important laws and constitutional amendments. Before his senatorial role, he served as governor of Minas Gerais (2010-2014) and vice-governor (2007-2010), as well as the State Secretary for Planning and Management (2003-2006) and Social Defense (2005-2006). At the Federal Government level, he was the executive secretary of the Ministry of Labour (1995-1999) and the Ministry of Justice (1999-2001). He is currently a professor at several higher education institutions.
